What is Levitra?

Generic Levitra (Vardenafil) is an oral drug that is used to treat impotence (the inability to attain or maintain a penile erection). It is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor that is similar to sildenafil (Viagra). Vardenafil is sold under the trade name Levitra.

What Should my Doctor Know before I Take Levitra?

What are the Administration and Dosage of Levitra?

Levitra generic (Vardenafil) is applied orally. It is taken before sexual activity independently of meal time. The pill is taken 1 hour prior to sexual activity, with a maximum dose frequency of once per day.

If you take Generic Levitra/Vardenafil more than prescribed, overdosage may take place. If so, contact your doctor or emergency immediately.

Note: Do not share your pills with other people!

Missing a Dose: What should I Do?

It is not a problem if you have missed a dose, only do not take double or extra doses.

Vardenafil's/Levitra's Interaction with Other Medications

Generic of Vardenafil (Levitra) shouldn't be taken together with nitroglycerin-type medications for the heart or chest pain such as amyl nitrite, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, nitroglycerin, even if these are only taken occasionally.

Generic Levitra (Vardenafil) may also interact with the following medications:

• alpha blockers such as alfuzosin (UroXatral®), doxazosin (Cardura®), prazosin (Minipress®), tamsulosin (Flomax®), or terazosin (Hytrin®), used to treat high blood pressure or an enlarged prostate.
• arsenic trioxide
• bosentan
• certain antibiotics such as clarithromycin, erythromycin, sparfloxacin, troleandomycin
• certain medicines used for seizures such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital
• certain medicines for the treatment of HIV infection or AIDS
• certain medicines to control the heart rhythm (e.g., amiodarone, disopyramide, dofetilide, flecainide, ibutilide, quinidine, procainamide, propafenone, sotalol)
• chloroquine
• cisapride
• diltiazem
• grapefruit juice
• medicines for fungal infections (fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole)
• methadone
• nicardipine
• pentamidine
• pimozide
• rifabutin, rifampin, or rifapentine
• some medicines for treating depression or mood problems (amoxapine, maprotiline, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, nefazodone, pimozide, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants)
• verapamil

This is not a complete list of generic Levitra's (Vardenafil's) interaction with other medications. Thus, inform your doctor of all drugs and other items you use. Also inform him whether you smoke, drink alcohol and caffeine-containing drinks or use illegal drugs.

What Should I be Aware of while using Generic Levitra?

Please call your health care provider immediately if you notice any problems with your vision or notice sudden loss of sight. At the same time stop using Vardenafil (generic of Levitra).

Also watch if your erection lasts more than 4 hours or if you feel pain. It might be a sign of a serious problem, so you should be examined to prevent any serious permanent consequences.

If you notice symptoms of nausea, dizziness, chest or arm pain during your sexual activity after taking Levitra (Vardenafil), you should abstain from your further sexual actions and call your doctor right away.

Do not change medicine dosage on your own. Consult your doctor whether dosage should be reevaluated.

Keep in mind that this drug doesn't protect you and your partner against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

What Side Effects May Be Noticed?

With The following side-effects you should call your doctor immediately:

• back pain
• changes in hearing such as loss of hearing or ringing in ears
• changes in vision such as loss of vision, blurred vision, eyes being more sensitive to light, or trouble telling the difference between blue and green objects or objects having a blue color tinge to them
• chest pain or palpitations
• difficulty breathing, shortness of breath
• dizziness
• eyelid swelling
• muscle aches
• prolonged erection (lasting longer than 4 hours)
• skin rash, itching
• seizures

The following side-effects don't require medical attention (contact your doctor only if they last for some time):

• flushing
• stuffy nose
• indigestion
• headache
• nausea

There can be other possible side-effects that haven't been listed above.

Storage

Store Levitra at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom.

Keep it away from children and pets. Throw away after the expiration date indicated on the medication's packing.
